Changes

Just when you've gotten used to one thing, it seems to change. This Summer my older sister was in Europe for 6 weeks, and my brother has been home for the Summer. Just last week, my sis came back, and yesterday my brother left for school again. I'm really glad to have the sister back, but sad to see my brother go.

I do realize that these things happen all the time. I am to that age where the home I knew- with my thousands of siblings always around- is not the same anymore. Some of us are grown up now, and everyday things are changing. Soon a few of us will move out for good and then the younger ones will know what it is like to be the oldest kids in the house. Thinking about all this does make me sad, but this is life. People grow up. I guess I didn't realize it would happen to me so fast. But I sure am glad for all the years I've had at home with my family.

Tonight

This evening around 6:00 the great Wylie sky began to darken...the winds picked up...the rain began to fall...then our power went out. ;)

Some might hear this sad tale and not wish it on their worst enemy - however us kids have always had this wonder at power outages. There's always been adventure in it for us.
Visit Pizza's blog for a full story. It was great.

Coffee

What else is there to say? Coffee is such a wonderful treat. Such a cure to one's problems. Such a soothing medicine. A drink to share with friends on a rainy day. I do love the way J.S. Bach put it in his coffee cantata:

Mm! how sweet the coffee tastes,
more delicious than a thousand kisses,
mellower than muscatel wine.
Coffee, coffee I must have,
and if someone wishes to give me a treat,
ah, then pour me out some coffee!

More on NC

(This post inspired by Ithilien's comment at the end of the previous post)

I must clarify that I have liked Nickel Creek since their first CD came out mainly for their very cool music style (sortof ModernFolkGrass).

I will say that I do not particularly agree with thier strange new taste in dress and attitude (seen in their music videos), but I do hope that this new CD demonstrates that even though they may have changed in appearances, that they will continue to make good music.
