Coffee

What else is there to say? Coffee is such a wonderful treat. Such a cure to one's problems. Such a soothing medicine. A drink to share with friends on a rainy day. I do love the way J.S. Bach put it in his coffee cantata:

Mm! how sweet the coffee tastes,
more delicious than a thousand kisses,
mellower than muscatel wine.
Coffee, coffee I must have,
and if someone wishes to give me a treat,
ah, then pour me out some coffee!

I personally would take tea over coffee any day, especially if it is blackcurrant.... it does all the things for me that coffe does for you, and also has the very advantageous advantage of being quite elegant, refined, and making one feel like someone from a novel, a thing which my repressed but most definity present 8-year-old self finds thoroughly enjoyable.

....but who ever wrote a cantata about tea!

What a neat quote! I've never heard that before. May I come to the kitchen? :)
Many a happy hour I've spent in a coffee shop with friends. Coffee carries with it a certain exotic aura, at the same time a very down home one.
Did you take the pic Ems? It's all good.

Fa-so-la-la, you should. Coffee if drunk in the right way is better than any alchoholic (sp) drink ever made, trust me.

Hey, thanks for all the comments yall - I feel like I'm popular or something!

K--come to the kitchen any time (literally)! I sure hear ya about those many happy hours! I know I've had a few with you - remember our Texas mug, do you still have that shirt?

Oh yes, I still have the shirt. It's very thin and soft and oh so comfy, and always reminds me of my bloodline, "Y'all I'm still a Mississippi girl" but oh how I love Texas!

Of course you're popular, Ems. :)

I have spent many a happy hour over a cup of java myself. Just tonight I was sitting in Starbucks with a good friend. :) And there is nothing better than a cup of coffee to go with a comfortable chair and a good book or movie.

I think it's time for me to put a pot on myself...

Though I don't like coffee, I love the smell, and I love all my friends that do drink coffee! I also like midnight excursions to Starbucks, even when I am the only one in the crowd without coffee.

All Coffee. Hate the smell, taste, whatever there is about coffee that people like, I hate. Except the caffenine. But I can get that in other things.
